Surveillance Cameras Used In Schools

Many public schools have been equipping their hallways, entrance & exits with video surveillance CCTV systems. The reasons include increased safety and security for students.

Installing cameras in schools can be a costly project and school districts must be certain that this would be the best choice to prevent outsiders from breaking into the school, deter theft, and keep property damage to a minimum.  The school districts that have these security camera systems in place have faced privacy concerns from parents, students and civil libertarian groups.

School officials stand behind the notion that metal detectors at entrances to detect weapons are not enough and video surveillance cameras in schools curb theft, reduce physical abuse, gang activity, fights, bullying and are important sources of physical evidence when crimes do occur.video surveillance camera system
